So purty!

Steve Watson: Skase Teacup

This tea cup ticks all the right boxes. Innovative design, simple functionality and the touchability factor. As described by the product's own site:

The Skase teacup set is based on the idea of symbiosis. A close, prolonged association between two or more different organisms of different species that may, but does not necessarily, benefit each member. The Skase is a cup and saucer for the post-modern world. The cup is made from white glazed creamware and is freed from the usual convention of requiring a flat base. It has a pleasingly tactile pointed shape and sits upon a cross base made from Manchurian walnut.

Nerd vs. Dork

Now here is the perfect set of teacups for my own household. Beloved and I are certainly of the Nerd/Dork variety... the only question is which one of us is the nerd and which is the dork? I'm almost loathe to share this one with you as I hope I can save up to bring them home to myself.

This is yet another of the brilliant creations of trixiedelicious, whom I have a creative crush on. I love her blend of naughty and nice, and her style is something to admire. If you too have a wicked sense of humor then you might enjoy her work. Be warned though, if you consider yourself easily offended then you might want to skip it... but that would ruin the fun.

Australian Ceramic Artist - Sandra Bowkett

Functional it may be, but the ceramic works of Sandra Bowkett are also pieces of art in their own right. This set, featuring delicately illustrated dragonfly figures, is one I am particularly fond of.

Nathalie Derouet

Dreamy and delicate, Nathalie Derouet has a knack for creating ceramics that beg to be cradled delicately in your palm. Do you like this understated set (above) as much as I do? And how about this softly shaded pair of green cups (below)? They seem to be begging to be filled with a gentle white tea.

Just the right shade

Sometimes a teacup is just the right shade. This one is just the right shade of blue. Improved by hand-drawn embellishments by Esther Coombs, the Metro Tea Cup is a perfectly proportioned piece of art. Drink from it or save it for display, but either way it deserves a spot on any shelf.

Love to sew?

Although I'd hardly classify it as a talent, I do love to sew. This cute (and affordable) little number is handpainted, signed and dated by artist Natalie Turri. Just the thing for those who love nothing more than a warm cup of tea sitting next to the machine as they sew. Available in a range of colours.

Changing Seasons

As Summer recedes and Autumn takes its place my mood changes and therefore so must my teacup. It is of vital importance to have a teacup that perfectly matches the falling leaves and sunny-yet-stormy days that we have here in Melbourne. I like this combination of red/black and crisp, thin lines. It's just like the bare branches and lonesome birds I see from my window.
